KSKJ was founded in 1894 in Joliet, Illinois by a group of Slovenian immigrants who wanted to better help each other by uniting. The company has grown to nearly 29,000 members from the 333 who started in 1894.
During the 1800s, Slovenian immigrants began coming to the US in large numbers to get away from hard economic conditions. Most faced unemployment and other hardships in America. Unions and welfare agencies didn't exist to help the needy, and when immigrants became sick, taking care of them became a burden to their family and friends. Many would take collections to help pay for funerals and assist widows and orphans. The Slovenians realized that they were stronger as a group than as individuals, and decided to band together.
KSKJ Life remains a non-profit fraternal organization providing its members with annuities, life insurance, and Medicare Supplement Insurance plans. KSKJ Life plans are designed to offer choices. Everyone has different health needs and budget requirements, and KSKJ Life has a variety of plans for Medicare recipients to choose from.
Generations of people have trusted KSKJ Life, and the company continues to prove its financial strength.
