Gerber Life

Headquartered in White Plains, New York, Gerber Life is one of the top life insurance companies in the United States. It currently has more than $37 billion of life insurance in force, providing over 3 million policies to people in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada. Even though Gerber Life has always been a well-known name in insurance, its position in the industry was officially solidified in 2009, when it was named one of the Top 50 Performing Life and Health Companies in the U.S. by the Ward Group. Additionally, it received an "A" (Excellent) rating by A.M. Best, a reporting firm that rates insurance providers on management style, financial standing and integrity.

History

The Gerber Life Insurance Company was formed in 1967 in Fremont, Michigan. It began as a subsidiary of the Gerber Products Company, commonly known as "the baby food people." Initially, the company's goal was to offer parents a way to protect their children and provide them with strong financial footing early in life. Thus, the company initially offered only juvenile life insurance policies. Gerber Life has since expanded exponentially and now offers insurance to people in all stages of life.

Gerber Life Insurance Policies

Gerber Life is a leading provider of term life and whole life insurance to adults. With term life insurance coverage, adults aged 18 to 70 can get from $25,000 to $150,000 worth of coverage. With whole life insurance, people can choose from coverage amounts ranging form $25,000 to $150,000. Gerber Life also offers guaranteed life burial expense coverage and accidental protection plan insurance.

Still a leader in juvenile life insurance, Gerber Life's popular Grow-Up Plan provides children with $50,000 of whole life insurance protection, and automatically doubles when the child reaches age 18. It also offers the popular Gerber Life College Plan, an endowment insurance policy that provides young adults with money for college if their parents pay a monthly premium while they are children.

The Gerber Life Difference

What sets Gerber Life apart from other insurance providers is its investment in children. Many providers do not include children in their insurance offerings, but Gerber Life is committed to providing children with financial stability early in life.
